Last week Brandon and I took the babies to Witch City USA. It is such a cute town.
We walked all over the town in the off season. We stayed at the Salem Inn. A 1834 house that is haunted. We actually thought that it had Monsters (the Lilly monster and Rory monster variety!) and not so many ghosts! But maybe the ghosts were resting for the real tourist season. The Inn was wonderful to us. The put us on the first floor. There is no elevator so we did have to navigate the front stairs. I knew this ahead of time though, so not a problem. We parked in front and left the double stroller in the car. We just brought the girls in.
We ate at the Victoria Station in Pickering wharf the first night, Thursday. They did not allow for the stroller at the table. however they had a spot in front for it. I only bring this up because due to the price of some strollers these days some parents may not want to leave there prized possessions out of site. Also there are times when one of the girls is napping and we don't want to wake them. Therefore leaving them in the stroller is a must! The food was really good. Thursdays is all you can eat fish fry, local Haddock for $10.95. One serving was all we could eat! The girls shared a bowl of soup. We often find that they are happier and healthier with a bowl of soup that an item off the kids menu. It is often cheaper too.
The second day for lunch we ate at the fancier Finz at Pickering Wharf! This was the highlight of our trip food wise. I could have eaten here once a week. The food was so good. They sat us by the window to overlook the bay , so the girls had something to look at. They also were so kind to the girls. They really went out of there way to make them feel at home at this fine dining establishment. Did I mention the food was outstanding!
One other thing to note was that we also have a new favorite store in Salem. It is called Crunchy Granola Baby. It is a Natural Baby store. It is in Downtown Salem. A woman named Jan owns it and she is just a doll. We opened the door and she welcomed us and our massive stroller in with open arms, LITERALLY! She let Lilly run around and play while helping Brandon and I figure out how to wear the Mei tie (my favorite baby wearing device) on my back. The kicker was she didn't even sell them there! Yet she went to her computer and printed the instructions so she could help us while we were at the store. She has classes for natural ways to raise a healthy happy family. She is truly a gem. If you are in Salem you have to stop by. Maybe in a few years we will open a franchise on LI.
After that we had to leave Salem. We will return, maybe in the summer or Fall when it is a little more active. Off season was quiet and quite nice though.
